The Cork Room, opened during winter quarter, provided students with another area, on the top floor of the Union, for lounging and relaxation between classes and after school. The lounge also featured a juke box, dance floor, and snack facilities. The University Union was used by many groups on campus and in the community for club meetings, social functions and committee sessions. The Union Board, directed by chairman Andrea Foote, was responsible for making the policies which gov-erned the Union and for insuring that the building was used to the best advantage for the greatest number of students. Duties of the Board were carried out by committees; for example, the arrangement of Union programs was delegated to the Program Council acting under the Union Board. Members of the Board included the ASUU president, the president of the University, other representative students appointed by the retiring Board, faculty appointed by the University president and alumni appointed by the Alumni Association.union service fills mP h opening cork room168 |
