Show honor pledgesACTRESS AND FOUNDER'S Day oration winner Annette Sorensen of Delta Gamma, took top honors as Pledge of the Year.SWIMMING TEAM MEMBER and IK Tony Nelson, Sigma Alpha Epsilon, was chosen as Honor Pledge of 1963.GEEEK OF THE YEAB JACQUELINE BACKgreeks of the yearEach year Sigma Pi fraternity honors an outstanding male and female as Greeks of the Year. Chosen this year for their service to the University and the fraternity system were Alpha Delta Pi Jackie Back and Pi Kappa Alpha Michael Hurd. Miss Back, a Ford Honor student in history, served as Panhellenic president and Utonian editor while serving her sorority as scholarship chairman and assistant rush chairman. A recipient of the Deans Merit Scholarship in Education, Miss Back has also held the position of Chronicle News Editor and was a member of Spurs, Cwean and Mortar Board. Mr. Hurd, an engineering major, held the office of president of his fraternity, while serving as Business Manager of the Chronicle. Chosen "Active of the Year" by Pi Kap alums, he was junior class vice president, a member of Senate two years and was in IFC. A member of Skull and Bones, junior men's honorary, Mr. Hurd also devoted time to Publications Council and the Student Affairs Committee.120 |
