Show WELCOME WEEK COMMITTEE members include Linda Erickson, chairman, Diane Schleckman, Curtis Johnson and Andrea Foote.bewildered, lost faces flood the u,explore a new world of places and ideas, and emerge a week later with a timid confidenceA week of orientation, academic and social, greeted 3,056 entering freshmen in a whirl of preschool activity. University administrators met new Utes in an evening reception in the Union while the President's Convocation in Kingsbury Hall served as a kick off for daytime activity. Freshmen were introduced to the academic community through meetings with their college deans and counselors. "Tepee Talks" featured faculty panels followed by student led discussions on such topics as "Should the University Change Your Values?", "Why Liberal Education?" and "Students Are Citizens Too." The lighter side of campus life was depicted by a Freshman Faculty Picnic, a religious organization open house and an RHA Swing in the Ballif Hall Lounge. The freshman had their first chance to mingle with upperclassmen in the Welcome Week dance, the culminating event of orientation.BLAZING HILLSIDE U announces the beginning of another school year.127 |
