Show watching football - as tough as playing itTension and action ... the undercurrents of collegiate sport... set the scene for football. The players unite in team effort, competition and sportsmanship. Sideline tension and action also prevails. A pass is completed and the crowd comes alive with a scream. The pulse of the yell is felt throughout the stadium. The cheerleaders shout "Fight!" and the songleaders pick up the beat. The band blares and the field comes alive with half-time spirit. The beat of the drums, the blast of the trumpet and the rhythm of feet scream in the language of music -"Fight, Utah!" Tension, too, grasps the coach as he watches his team huddle, grab the ball and run. At his side other team members watch and wait for their turn to touch the ball and dart for the goal post. In the last minutes of the game a Redskin rushes for a touchdown and the muscles of the fans tense in excitement. The cool, crisp evening illuminated by the bright field lights and Utah spirit frame the football scene.290 |
