Show festivities draw Ute alums from far away placesto honor an old memoryof four vital yearsSIGMA NU CAPTURED the first place trophy in the fraternity division with their giant red and white revolving globe. Second and third places went to Pi Kappa Alpha and Beta Theta Pi.Homecoming 1962 brought with it a whirl of festivities ranging from house decorations and a quartet program to a parade and a pep rally complete with a mammoth bonfire. The events centered around the theme "Alumni Faces in Far Off Places." Utes searched out alums in San Francisco, Paris, Rome, Berlin and even outer space. Fraternity and sorority houses took on new looks as Greeks erected replicas of the Eiffel Tower, the Golden Gate Bridge and the Egyptian pyramids. Cardboard camels were seen on sorority house lawns, and alum travelers were spotted going by in rocket ships and balloons. First place trophies in the house decoration competition went to Kappa Kappa Gamma and Sigma Nu. The corner of First South and Wolcott Street was once again the scene of the Pi Beta Phi-Sigma Nu Street Dance. Students danced and twisted in the street to the music of a combo. Some took time out to visit the giant bonfire at the pep rally that was co-sponsored by RHA and the University cheerleaders.KAPPA KAPPA GAMMA copped top honors in the sorority house decorations competition with their tissue map of the world. Second and third place awards went to Tri-Delt and Delta Gamma.BUNDLED UNDER SKI sweaters and coats, Utes danced in Wolcott Street at the Pi Beta Phi - Sigma Nu Street Dance.
