Show The Board of Regents, top governing board of the University, met at least once a month to appoint the administrative and instructive officers and outline their duties, to formulate policies, to approve the University budget and authorize the expenditure of funds. Also, the board handled plans for building expansion and the advancement and improvement of curriculum. The past four years Royden G. Derrick has served as chairman of this board of 12 Utah citizens who are appointed by the Governor with the consent of the State Senate. Each member is appointed for a term of four years. Ex-officio members of the board were A. Ray Olpin, University president; Lamont Toronto, Utah Secretary of State; and Maurice L. Watts, president of the Alumni Association. In addition to making long range plans, the board dealt with the immediate problems which confronted them each month.THE UNIVERSITY'S TOP governing body consists of (front row) Royden G.
