Show swimmingThe 1963 Ute swimming team were champs! At the Western Athletic Conference swimming meet, hosted by the Ute team, the Redskin tankmen took 13 of the 16 events to win the first W.A.C. swimming championship. In the meet the Utes compiled a total of 369 points compared to Wyoming's 229 V2, New Mexico's 96 Vi and Arizona's 5\Vi. During the regular season the Ute tankmen won 13 meets and lost two. The Utes also won the College Invitational. The victories were over Wyoming, the Air Force Academy, Colorado State, Arizona State, Stanford and California. The Utes beat Utah State, Colorado and Arizona U twice. Only Denver and Southern California were able to defeat the Utes.THE CAPTAIN OF the 1963 championship Ute swimming team is Pete Brown.THE CHAMPION SWIMMING team consists of (front row) Richard Olson, Steve Wheelwright, Melvin Roberts, Captain Pete Browne, David Goldner, Assistant Coach Larry Zechiel, Jeff Rogers, (row 2) Steve Roghaar, Allen Neuls, Gary Jewett, Steve Smith, Kimball Bernard, Steve Schultz, Tony Nelson, Roger Baer, Steve Garrett and Jim Bell.
