The presentation, at the Fort Douglas Club outside pool, included French, Chinese, Latin and Hawaiian numbers. The Aquamaids, girls who excelled in the art of swimming, practiced once a week in preparation for this annual show which was open to the public free of charge. New members of the group are selected each fall. All interested girls automatically become members of Junior Aquamaids, where they are taught the skills of synchronized swimming. After a two week practice period, the girls are then eligible to apply for Senior Aquamaids. Applicants are judged by the members on a point basis as to their skill in side, crawl and breast strokes, and their ability to perform six water ballet stunts. |
