Show NOTE This Appendix is included in order to supply numerous pieces of information that supplement the main report. Much of what follows has been referred to, cited or implied in the body of the report. Where necessary cross-reference cites to these pages have been provided. There is also some information which is related to rather than part of the main report and that has been included in Part Two of this Appendix. Part One deals with resources pertaining directly to the Chase Mill and other related mills. It also includes data from the most recent restoration efforts which appear to be relevant to this report and its recommendations. Part Two, as stated, refers primarily to mills, milling processes and histories primarily unconnected to the Chase Mill. It is particularly relevant, however, for the schematics of equipment and other data which provide a comparative body of technical information with which to begin reconstruction designs. Part Three contains a short bibliography and footnotes. The Appendix begins with a short discussion of the nature of the Kesler Collection, since it is out of Kesler's surviving papers that much of the vital information on the Chase Mill will come. All of the sections of Part One are tied directly to the Kesler Collection with the exception of section g. (Recent Restoration Efforts) and section h. (Interviews). |
