Show 9 married Emily Hyde, daughter of Apostle Orson Hyde, and on Narch 25, 1856, he married his second I·life, Josephine streeper, daughter of i'Jilliam streeper.. The 3treepers moved from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to Nauvoo, Illinois in the Spring of 1844. 'rhe following ye3.r' they moved to 3t. Louis, where ':1illiam was Superintendent of the Gas works. there • • Josephine attended a select Girl's school The family emingrated to Salt Lake in 1851. George had two daughters by each of these wives while living at the mill home Marinda (Harried McKee) and Phoebe (Mrs. vlilliam Hm·/ell McIntyre) by the first wife. By the second wife, Kate Hatilda Chase, who never married and Josephine (I·trs. Joseph Wood.) Subsequently Haria who \/as ma.:-ried to O·. . en Dix; Rhoda, \.,.ho married Albert welker; and Laura who married Walter Needham, and were born to Emily. a~n George Ogden, who died at birth, Geor6e and Judson L. Stoddard bought a saw mill in Farm- ington Canyon and moved this family to Farmington. Later there \.. as divorce and Emily moved to Salt Lake City. Upon moving to Centerville, George continued his pioneer \-lork. Patents for a great deal of land in Centerville and for some of the land in adjacent towns were issued to him, which he deeded out to the respective settlers. The premises known as Chase Park, he purchased from the heirs of his father's estate. They lived in the :bg cabin 'IIi th dirt roof which \'1as on trie place while they built the hOUS8 which was to be the home of Josephine and her failiily. children were born as the issue of this union as follows: Fifteen Kate Matilda, and Josephine born at the mill home, Fannie Dean Chase who married Joseph l'Iathews, Viola married Charles Rollins, Alice married James Smedley, Fraa< Leslie ~arried Emma Amelia Croft, Mary Ella, never married, George Angel, died at birth, John Wilkinson married Geneve Egbert, David Nelson died while attending the State University at Logan, Ethel, Leah and Valentine died at birth, Clarissa Gretchen died at the age of four, and Emma Eakel Chase. They were loyal and active church mem- bers, teaching classes in various organizations, singing in the choir, giving service where |
