Show Impacts of Proposed 900 South Storm Drain Improvements Constructing the recommended 900 South storm drain improvements will have the following impacts: • The need for expensive main storm drain pipeline upgrades in the downtown area along 600 and 800 South will be eliminated because runoff from areas east of 600 East that currently discharge into these systems will be removed. • Flooding along the Jordan River will be reduced. The recommended detention basin will attenuate peak runoff discharges, reducing the peak discharge at 600 East from approximately 500 cfs to approximately 150 cfs. • Flooding related to the existing undersized detention basin in the northeast comer of Liberty Park will be eliminated, resolving problems in the 1300 South drainage basin as well. • Recurring flooding and safety hazards will be significantly reduced or eliminated. |
