Show Record ledge. We had the propellers hinged. In a place like that we 4820 would take no chances on them hitting. We took them up and float across. Going up stream we did not lift up the propeller. I had to let her go up stream. It did not hit going up stream. I passed it several times going down. I did not always lift up the propeller. If I thought there was any danger of hitting I always would. Your hand is on the handle. You simply push down a little bit and it tips the motor. It keeps running. I never hit that ledge. I took a trip on the Cliff Dweller from my ranch Halverson's ranch, about 14 miles. We had trouble getting up. We used a capstan. I left the boat at Halversons because I wanted to get back to the ranch. Ad it came by the ranch I was out in the field, and it came close enough to the bank to permit me to jump in the boat. I wanted to see it run. I did not take any other trip on the Cliff Dweller. I had no financial interest in it. 4822 I donot think there is a great deal of difference in the water above and below Bridge canyon. There is a rapid at Halls Crossing and there is what they call the Shock rapid, but neither one of them proved to be as bad as the Bridge canyon rapid. We had no difficulty in running those. I ran them a time or two. I also run the Bridge rapid et other trips. From Bridge canyon on down to Lees Ferry there were no rapids that bothered me. It is about the same as above. Warm Creek comes in there. I couldn't tell the difference, whether 4823 coming up or going down. The last time I saw the Marguerite it was tied above the 4824 bridge at Greenriver. I was last in Greenriver about the 23rd of this month ( November, 19290. I didn't see the Marguerite then. At Greenriver this last time I saw Mr. Yokey's steel cruiser, 4825 which has not yet been launched. 4826 I went into the hauling and livery business about 1909. Outside of the government trips and the supplies which I 4827 hauled to my own ranch, I do not believe that I hauled any other 710 |
