Show Athletic Council Headed by Profesor Walter A. Kerr, the athetic council, consisting of a diversified, representative membership that includes the faculty, students, and alumni, has accomplished notable work during its tenure as an organ of university government. Untiring efforts and impartial supervision of the board over all athletic activities with which the university is concerned has resulted in genuine, wide-spread recognition by the general public and members of the Rocky Mountain Conference for the prowess and standing of Utah in fields of athletic endeavor. Commonly referred to as the "Board of Strategy," the council, through its efforts, has widened the fields of competition by arranging inter-sectional contests with strong, outside opponents, and ardently advocates and promotes the high ideals of sportsmanship among competing athletes. Influential executive and judiciary powers have made the council the final source of appeal in the matter of inter-collegiate athletics. In addition to Professor Kerr, the members are Leon Garrett, bursar; H. L. Marshall, secretary; Ike J. Armstrong, coach; Dr. L. L. Daines, faculty; Harry Ostler, alumnus; and student representatives, DeMotte Pomeroy and Harold Miller. Twc Hundred Fifty-one |
