Show 5625 75 3632 Hite- D Q Well, how far can you get down from Hite? A Well, you can go-- not with a wagon. Q I am talking about a pack- train? A Oh, you can go on a pack- train clear down to Good Hope. But below Good Hope the wall rock comes down to the water, so only in extreme low water in the winter has anyone ever been able to get along there even a foot, to get to Hanson Creek. Q But you can get from Hite with a pack- train down to Hanson Creek? A Yes, by going up a creek they call Smiths Fork, I believe. In fact, you have to climb up the high mesa in coming on to Hanson Creek, and then down. It is a very hard trail, and they never did it. Q Is there a ford at Dandy Crossing? A Well, there is shallow water in the winter, I Mr. Blackmar. That is all I think. Q Dandy Crossing is a regular crossing used by travel-ers, is it not? A Yes, it had been. They had the ferry or boat there most of the time we were in there. |
