Show 5746 Miser- D 3751 196 but you could not row very well in six- inch water, could you? A There would be trouble with boats grounding, of course, in six- inch water, because they would go over to places where the channel was shallow. Q Well, I am not speaking about grounding, but could you row a boat down a stream with only six inches of water? I am asking for information. I do not have whether you could or not. A These boats were especially light. About the only concern I had with getting the boats forward, was getting out and wading and pulling the boats in the shallow places, and where the water was only about six inches, or a little less, in depth, we had considerable difficulty in getting the boats forward. If the water was less than five inches, it was necessary to carry the boats, and that was done on one occa-sion. By Mr. Blackmar: Q Well, now, are you still in that section of the river between Moon Light and Piute? A Yes, sir. Q And was it in there that you had at times to carry the boats? |
