Show 5559 Hite- D 3567 9 Trachyte Rapids. About a mile below Hite was Big Rock rapids. Around the bond, possibly a mile and a half from here, was a small rapids that was only dangerous in high water. And there were small shallow rapids, two or three, I should judge, between there and the mouth of Red Canyon, and a rapids there that we called " Tickaboo No. 1", and you were just directly out of that and gotten straightened out, when you went around a curve and get into Tickaboo Rapids No. 2. Those were both of them what you would consider bad rapids. Then just below the landing at the cabin at Tickaboo, there was a swift rapids, and there were two of that character between there and Good Hope, as I remember now. Q When you made these trips down there to Tickaboo, how did you make the return trip? A Why, principally towing the boat back up the river. Through most of the rapids, we had to get out and wade in the boat an inch at a time out of the shallow into the deeper water at the Head of the rapid.
