Show 5570 217 Q After you reached the Colorado River, whore did you go? Had your mission been complete at the time? A Yes, sir. On the fourth day of October, we decided that we would take a day off and go to the Hole- in- the- Rock. There were seven of us in the bunch. Five of us walked up the east bank of the Colorado. Bert Loper took an empty boat and Blake took an empty boat and each rewed the empty boats to the Hole- in- the- Rock, while we walked on the bank. And when we got opposite the Role- in- the- bank, we were put across the river in these boats, and climbed up the canyon wall in the west side part way, and then we came down to the river and get in these boats and went down to camp at the mouth of the San Juan. Then the next day we were visited by several person who had been with the surveying party in Cataract canyon; the persons included Ellsworth Kolb, Emory Kolb, E. C. Larue, Henry Ranch and Sidney Page. There were three boats brought down by that party. Emory Kolb had his own boat -- The Witness. Ellewerth Kolb had a Government boat, and I believe Larue was rowing a boat in which there were some supplies, and this particular boat and some supplies were left at the mouth of the San Juan for the Trimble party |
