Show 5772 219 Q To what extent are you able to tell us, Do these sand storm contribute to that silt or sand in the San Juan River? A The wind? Q Yes. A I think the sand gees to the river by several agencies. It is brought down by side streams; brought down by water flowing across the surface of the ground in the canyons, in what you might call a sheet flood, and then I think the wind contributed some, but I think the wind con-tributes only a miner portion. Q Does the action of the wind upon the rocks in the canyon contribute in any way toward this silt and debris in the river? A The wind brings a certain amount of slit to the river, but I think most of this silt is brought by side streams. Mr. Blackmar. I think that is all, Mr. Miser. CROSS EXAMINATION By Mr. Farnsworth: Q Mr. Miser, you have never been through Cataract Canyon, have you? |
