The 6-foot drop at station 1575 will just be eliminated by the greater gradient. This, however, will lower the elevation of the east mesa canal Xo. 1, 6 feet, and thus eliminate a certain acreage on the east-side mesa that can not be served by gravity. It will also reduce the possible head at mesa power station -No. 1 from 30 to 24 feet. Alternative Xo. 1 decreases the cost. 8120,451 over a canal built in an earth section. Alternative Xo. 2 increases the cosir$969,841 over a canal built in an earth section. The estimated cost of the other sections of the canal will remain the same as in the first estimate and are, therefore, not repeated above. In the second alternative estimate, future enlargements of the earth sections are anticipated but not covered in this estimate.
