Admitted: May 9, 1957 This Agreement, Made this 29th day of December nineteen hundred and twenty-one, between the United States of America, by E. C. Finney, Acting Secretary of the Interior, pursuant to the Act of June 17, 1902 (32 Stat., 388), and acts amendatory thereof or supplementary thereto, and the Imperial Irrigation District, of the State of California by the President and Secretary of the said Imperial Irrigation District, hereinafter referred to as the "Contractor". Witnesseth : That 2. Whereas, the United States Reclamation Service, in cooperation with various State agencies, irrigation districts and others, has partially completed a survey of a proposed reservoir site above the location of Boulder Canyon on the Colorado River, in the States of Nevada and Arizona, and 3. Whereas, work has been in progress during the past year on preliminary investigation of various dam sites in Boulder and Black Canyons of the Colorado River in connection therewith, and 4. Whereas, it is advisable to continue these said dam-site investigations to determine the best and most feasible location for the construction of a high dam and the foundation conditions underlying the proposed dam sites, and 5. Whereas, such additional investigations as now proposed for the near future are estimated to cost One Hundred and Fifty Thousand Dollars ($150,000) and |
