Show CALIFORNIA DEFENDANTS Exhibit No. 182 Identification: May 9, 1957 Admitted: May 9, 1957 Excerpt From the Minutes of the Board of Directors of Imperial Irrigation District, March 10, 1914. The following resolution was then presented: Whereas, The Imperial Valley Settlers Association is asking the Government to restore the East Mesa lands to entry when the applicant shows that he has a water right and is able to irrigate the land, and has presented a petition to this Board asking its endorsement, and Whereas, The Board of Directors of the Imperial Irrigation District desires to work out the problems confronting the Valley upon a permanent basis, and in a way to bring the greatest benefit to the greatest number, and Whereas, We believe it is a feasable proposition to build a permanent and complete irrigation system for all the lands of the Imperial Valley, provided the United States Government will aid, either by building a main canal, or by granting to the District the Mesa lands which are now without water; Therefore Be It Resolved: That it is the policy of this Board to ask the Government to grant the Mesa lands to the District, or to open them up to settlement upon such terms as will make them bear their just proportion of the cost of building a permanent main canal, to water the lands of the entire valley; and that the re- |
