Show said Compania and its said Articles have been duly recognized and approved as such through the official proceedings of the Mexican Federal Government. R. B. Brissenden would testify that he studied Spanish in high school and at the University of California and first worked as a translator in Washington, D. C, during the year 1919 for the Doheny Research Foundation, his work at that time being the translating of articles and extracts from books on Mexico. That in 1920 and 1921 he worked in Mexico at Tampico for the Pan-American Petroleum Company at general office work, including the translation from Spanish to English and from English to Spanish of general matters coming under his office work. From July 1922 to date, he has been employed by the Imperial Irrigation District in various capacities and during all of that time has done the work of translating the frequent correspondence and official documents from Spanish to English and from English to Spanish as required in connection with the affairs of said District and the Compania de Terrenos y Aguas de la Baja California in Mexico. He also has acted as interpreter on many occasions. That the accounts of the Compania aforesaid are kept in Spanish, as well as in English, and that the translation of said accounts has been under his direct supervision since the year 1926. That with respect to Exhibit 160-A, being a certified copy of the Articles of Incorporation of said Compania de Terrenos y Aguas de la Baja California, in Spanish, he is fully familiar with the same, knows the same to be a full and correct copy of the Articles of Incorporation of said Compania, used, had and existent in the offices of the said Compania in Mexicali, Lower California, Mexico, and in the offices of the Imperial Irrigation District in |
