Show 239 the government's designation Rapid No. 1. By Mr. Farnsworth: Q Is that correct? A That particular rapids, yes, designated No. 1 by the Hydraulic engineer that accompanied the river survey; and this ( indicating) simply locates that rapids with respect to Miles above Green River, miles above Lees Ferry. It shows its length, as obtained from the plan and profile. It shows its fall in feet, as obtained from the plan and profile; and shows, by means of computation, that there was, on an average, 25 feet of fall to the mile at the particular place. Mr. Farnsworth: Let me ask you a question, then. All of this-- The Special Master: ( Interposing) I had not got to this column. I had merely gotten to this column headed " Number of Rapids;" that is the one designating the numbers 1, 2, 3, and so on; that is merely an identification column. So that I do not understand that there is any objection no that. Mr. Farnsworth: No. The Special Master: What you object to is the column headed, " Character of Flow," is it not? Mr. Farnsworth: Yes; I object to that The special Master: Now, in the column headed, " Charact of Flow," I do not see how this witness is qualified to desinate the character of flow, except on the portions of the r that he has testified to having surveyed. 2002 |
