Show 197 these references are, in red ink. A On these plates, I have shown in red ink, by number and initials, all photographs made by me and referred to me, in Exhibit 77. I have also shown, by means of red arrows, the location and the number and volume number of all photograph in the files of the Geological Survey that have been made by the various engineers who have traversed the river. Q And the numbers here which are marked with a dash and the number in a circle, which appears to be part of the print -- that refers to the mileage above? A The mileage above the mouth of the river. On those plates also are shown in red the location of sidebars and crossing bars as they were at the time of my investigation -- surveyed and unsurveyed. Q My, Hoyt, I show you plate 3, in Exhibit 76, and ask you to explain what that plate represents ( handing exhibit to witness). A Plate 3 of Exhibit 76 shows, by a dash line, the approximate channel conditions of the river, as shown by General Land Office plat dated June 6, 1883. By the Special master: Q 1883? A 1883.
