A very decided crossing bar was found at Mile 50.2, where both boats had lost of trouble, and it was about half an hour before both boats could work their way across. A From that point through to the boat dock, just above Mile 65, we ran into crossing bars almost continuously The outstanding crossbars are shown at Miles 53.9, 54.5, 55.4, 55.9, 56.5, 59.2, and shoals and shallow places are scattered on both sides of the river, clogging the channel on the side of Mill Creek and below Courthouse Wash, and in a long straight stretch by Kings Bottom-- Mile 60 to 61. The large motorboat was stuck at Mile 3.8, Miles 5.4.5 and 55.9, and 56.7, 61.1, and again at 64.8, the mouth of Courthouse Wash about a quarter of a mile below the dock. Strange as it may seem, we had no trouble at all at the mouth of Mill Creek, where Mr. Baldwin stated that they had very often had trouble with the boat, on account of the sediment brought in by Mill Creek.
