Show 257 and where I show the deficiency tables it is a computation based on official figures. I think the headings of the tables themselves speak for themselves as to what is a computation and what are official records. Q. What I mean is this: Did you not take what you conclude are typical days of a month where the mean average only is given? A. No, sir. Q. And arrived at certain conclusions from that? A. No, sir; they are from the records of extreme high water to low water, with maximum and minimum; it is a compilation of all of these stream flow records, arranged by months, by years and stations, for ready reference. Q. Now, in the samples which you furnished, where you show variations in these tables, are those variations in a given table as shown by you variations at the same station always? A. Yes, sir. For instance, you are referring to a table showing the mean annual discharge in second feet, variations, daily maximum and minimum discharge, and distribution of the mean annual run- off by months. Q. Well, wherever you make a comparison showing variations, are those comparisons always of gaugings at the same station, or do you take gaugings at one station and then compare them with gaugings at another stations and speak of the difference as a variation? A. No. This report is not that any sense of the word. 2220 |
