Show 343 A yes, sir. Q What is the elevation of Grand Junction? A The elevation of Grand Junction is about 4,558 feet. Q How did you happen to go over to Grand Junction for that. A That is the end of the river surveys. Q Is the junction of the Snake and the Columbia the end of the surveys on the Columbia River. A I do not think the Geological Survey has any surveys of the lower Columbia river or the Snake. Q You do not think they have? A Not river surveys comparable to what we have here. You see, the Geological Survey does not work, in general, on navigable streams. The Army engineers do that. Q Do you know what the elevation of the North Fork of the Snake River is at its head. A The North Fork of the Snake? That is up at Henry's Fork, do you mean? A No, I mean the North Fork of the Snake. Do you know where the North Fork rises? A Yes, sir; up in Yellowstone Park. Q Which fork does -- both forks? Q Well, the South Fork rises near Yellowstone Park, and the North Fork rises in Northeastern Idaho. Q Where? A Right up there, just west of Yellowstone Park. 2308 |
