Show 209 of what the river conditions are in Cataract Canyon between two points in that canyon, made by people knowing those maps, and knowing what the elevation is in here ( indicating) and what the elevation is at the other point, as this man is. The Special Master: Well, I am inclined to agree with you; but I think, with the explanation of what those maps are and the qualifications to be attached to them, that that is sufficient to guard against any undue weight being given to them, a weight greater than should be given to them. Unexplained, your criticism, I think, is fair; but explained, I think the maps can go in, for whatever they are worth, with that explanation. Mr. Blackmar: I think the principal reason for putting these on is a matter of furnishing the information as the case progresses; and before we get through with this, you will find that this is just as valuable to you as it is to us in locating various points on the river. The Special Master: I think the record will now show just what the maps consist of, and to what degree they are to be given weight. By Mr. Blackmar: Q Mr. Hoyt, after you went down and viewed those two cataracts, you and your party proceeded back and up the Colorado River. A Yes, sir. 2172 |
