Show 207 The Witness: Yes. For instance, between Mile 204 and Mile 205, that is probably the rapids that Mr. Eddy referred to as one continuous rapids. The topographers who went through when they surveyed those rapids found five rapids, and numbered them from 1 to 18, but they were continuous, one after the other. Q But you have put in some indication there, by your legend, that it was one rapids all the way through. A Yes, sir. Q Now, you do not know whether there was one rapids all the way through or not. A I can show you from the profile, Mr. Farnsworth. Mr. Farnsworth: Well, I think he is going into the realm of very wild speculation in marking those thins up like that, of course, it is obvious that that can not possibly show, as to a given stretch of a quarter of a mile, whether that is still water; there might be a different elevation some dis-tance up the canyon and some distance below. The Witness: These ( indicating on map) are the eleva-tions of that river between Mile 204 and Mile 205, as shown on Sheet T, the profile accompanying that plan, which shown that at Mile 204 the elevation was 3,765 feet, and it shown that at Mile 205 the elevation was 3,790 feet. Now, the ele-vation is shown by 5- foot drops throughout that stretch. The Special Master: I think that I can understand that, 2170 |
