The Witness: We were in the canyon, below the mouth of the San Rafael; and on October 11th and 12th were surveying the bar at Mile 80.5. On the 14th -- By Mr. Blackmar: Q So that, in addition to that, you might have had some contributing waters from the San Rafael? A This ( indicating) shows the flow at Greenriver. We have no gauging station on the San Rafael, but there was some contributing flow from that. Q Did that flood come up in the night? Just tall us about it? A That flood hit us during the afternoon, as I remember it, without looking at my diary; and we were surveying the bar at Mile 80.5 and had camped at the lower end. We did not complete the survey of the bar that night, and the next morning a very large portion of the bar was submerged, and I have had to show on that plate, No. 31, by dots, where the bar was the afternoon before the flood.
