MARSHALL ON COLEOPTERA [Jan. 19, coarsely punctured, with three prominent narrow smooth carina?; lateral sulci deep, the upper pair uniting at base, longer and much broader than the lower pair; scx-obes deep, lateral and oblique, inferior basal furrow absent. Antennas with scape just reaching eye; the two basal joints of funicle very short, subequal. Prothorax compai'atively small, somewhat transverse, apex rather narrower than base, sides very little rounded, broadest rather- before middle, dorsal anterior margin truncate, ocular lobes feeble. Upper surface convex, fairly closely set with low rounded granules, leaving a shallow centx-al furrow containing a short but strong carina; granules shiny, beax-ing loxxg ex-ect black seta? antex-iox-ly, but with short depressed seta? behind, tlxe interstices with dense brown scaling. Elytra ovate, shoulders rormdedly prominent, sides somewhat rounded, bx-oadest about middle, apical processes absent in J . Upper surface convex, with shallow sxrlci containing rows of ill-defined punctures often sepax-ated by minute granules; all the intervals with x-egular rows of closely-set gi-anules, but 1, 3, 5, and 7 are more raised than the others, the granules also on them .are larger and bear long erect black seta?, whereas the gx-anules on the alternate intervals have much shorter subdepressed seta?; the apices of granules bare, the intersrmces with dense brown scaling. Legs coax-sely punctured and with fairly dense depx-essed pale seta?; posterior tax-si short and broad, the joints of about the same width, 2nd and 3rd subequal in length, 1st rather longer. Rostrum not incised at base, as long as head and prothox-ax, slightly curved, dilated only close to apex. Upper surface punctate and with thin scaling, with a shallow central furrow throughout containing a faint carina, and with a prominent carina on either side of it; upper latei-al sulci uniting at base, much longex- and deeper than tlxe lower pair ; scrobes lateral, deep in front and shallow behind ; inferior transverse basal furrow absent. Antennae clothed with pale clepx-essed setae; scape just reaching eye; second joint of funicle longer than first. Prothorax distinctly transverse, apex and base of equal width, sides slightly rounded, broadest about middle, dorsal anterior margin concave, ocular lobes well developed. Upper surface convex, the anterior margin distinctly elevated, with a broad smooth central furrow containing no carina, and oir each side of it three regular separated rows of long spiniform tubei*cles, there being from 4 to 6 in each row, and those in the lateral row being much shorter than tlxe others ; tubercles bare |
