Lenox This has been a year of challenge, responsibility, decislons and joy and, also, an experience for 1964-65 g ! rea lized there never to be forgotten. When I accepted the office of state president on on the other hand, many opportunities and rewards ou ld would be many sacrif ices my part but, Women's Clubs has accomplished and Professional of Business result. I do feel the Utah Federation means which progress. much during the past year, , It was early Sunday morning, f'.kJy 17 j 1964, in Moab when the tension was high that i received a phone call from my office here in Vernal telling me i had to come home immediately; because the teachers had decided not to be in the classrooms Monday and Tuesday and a spec io I board meeting was ca lied for that afternoon. What was I to do? Sunday is an important day of the convention; I was in charge of the luncheon meefinq , and we had to vote again on second vice not president; consequent Iy, the resu Its of the election cou ld not be given, and ,the i nsto Ilation was leave Fine [ly I decided it was lmpossible for me to to be held unti I the last thing Sunday afternoon ; explained the situation to the office manager and asked herr- to sit in the convention at that time for me during the board meeting. Fortunate Iy, the members of the Board of Education accepted my reason for not returning for the meeting; and! am still employed by the Uintah School District The reason I mention this is that when I requested permission to run for president promised wou ld am sure my year wou ld never have been complete if had been not let it interfere with my work forced to mis: the last day, especia Ily the insta Ilation of officers since I was elected state presldent 0 , 0 , 0 , Immediately after being installed as president, ! fell right into the privi leqes of 'fhe office by representing the Federation on Monday, May 18, at the Senior Tea guven by 'the Roosevelt Business and Professional WomenRs Club at the home of Ellen Rawlings for the gnlf'h graduatung from Union High School. The setting was beautifu I and the reception had such a warm we lcome fee ling It was rewarding to observe those excited, yet scared, young ladies as they displayed their graduation H is hoped fl '"-'e importance outfits with a gleam in their eyes of great anticipation for the future the need of being a business or professional woman rubbed off on them to the point that they seYI .. .. r , for continuing their training and education .. My own club has been so wonderfu I and patient with me a I i the years have been an officer They have supported me a II the way, and i do apprec iat'e each and every one of the mernbers It was my honor to install their new officers immediately following the State Convention They then presented me with a love Iy attachl case, wh ich has beenmy constant in the State Federation.. , 0 compan ion a II yea r • One of the highlights of the year was the reception my club gave me shortly after State It was so beautifu Ily handled, and what a thri II it was to have so many Stdte 'Federatlon members attend There were three past state presidents present, and th irteen clubs were represented. This I certainly did not expect, but I appreciated the effort put forth by each and everyone who attended onvention. 0 .. I do want to take th is opportun ity to publ i c Iy express my thanks and apprec iation to the Vernal Club for the loyal support given me and the wonderful things they have done for me Thanks from the bottom of my hea rt to a II of .. you 0 J Iy 9, 1964, I was pleased to represent the Utah Federation at the 40th anniversary of .the Provo Buslnss nd Professional Women1s Club. Orem and Spanish Fork clubs participated with the Provo Club In Its celebration It was an outstanding evening of association, fellowship, and fun 0 It was a real experience for me to attend the National Convention in 0 Detroit, Michigan as 19640 Real value was received by going a day early so ! could atted July preident.i Session rhur under the capable leadership of tv\amne K. Taylor, National Member Training s h? 'P alman Mony helpful ideas were shared by other state federation members regarding the organ!z?tlon of new clubs, increasing membership, keeping members, etc. Utah had plans for organlzmg at least three clubs this year, but our efforts did not materialize. We hope to continue state hm?ershlp .. . |
