He wrote, "Women are no man longer content with the platitudinous goals of yesteryear' women no longer are silent and passive, nor can they be taken for granted. Women no longer are followers, women now lead. In fact, it might be said To begin this report for the last issue of the Utab Business Woman for the year 1963-64, let me first thank each of you for your support and assistance throughout the year. From the first execu ti ve meeting through the fall and winter board meetings, the district conferences the leadership workshop, the m crease in membership and the good programs and projects planned and Implemented by the clubs have giv en all of us a feeling of accomplish ment. The Committee on the Status of Women is now working to define the barriers if any, and also the areas in which women in Utah have already made progress towards full partnership. Your continued sup port to this committee will affect I ts success. leadership workshop held during January at the University of The Utah was a tremendous success. The planning committee worked ef ficiently and tirelessly. It is my hope that these workshops will be continued and expanded to help more women become better leaders, not only in the club but in the com munity. The importance of contin- 'wherever women go so also the nation will go.'" God leadership begins with the individual having confidence in her own va'lue and ability; it relies on knowledge and is developed through service when translated into action. These are of the important things some brought out in the workshops whiclh so many of our federation members attended. In meeting todays challenges and obligations of the business and professional woman many of the clubs have concentrated their programs and projects around the youth in the community; others have focused their interests in community programs, putting BPW before the publie, and developing the interest of women in becoming members; still others have programmed in the area of world affairs to become responsible citizens in today's world. Though the emphasis centered around one specific area, all of the three program areas of personal development, civic participation and world affairs are served when all members of the club participate. The theme, developed by our National Program Committee will bring us continuity of program maThe terial for the coming year.
