Show UTAH FEDERATION OF BUSINESS AND PROFESSIONAL WOMEN'S CLUBS, TENTATIVE STATE LEGISLATIVE The following tentative nON and POLICY. PLATFORM---1264-1265 Legislative Platform is divided into two sections, ' The action items require that a concerted and continuing effort be made to ve bills introduced covering action items and subsequent support of the membr ip to insure their enactment into law; and that concerted and continuing position be made to objectionable legislative proposals. The policy items should receive membrship supporto llQ!: ITEM I Advance the position of the women of the state of Utah to provide: A. An Equal Pay for Equal 'W0rk Bill J to provide for equal pay for women employees and prohibiting employers from discriminating in payment of wages between the sexes. B. A minimum wage law for all employment not presently covered by law, sucb minimum wage to oe at a rate not less than $1.00 per hour. ITEM II Support legislation relating to the welfare of' minor Ghildren. A. ITEM Support a resolution for a Constittional Amendmept to pro,dde Budget Sessions to convene in the year following regalar sessions of the Legislature and limiting the purpose of such Budget Sessionso for ITEM II le proVide that the juvenile court shall maintain a reeerd of all ehildren available for adoption, and provide that adoption agencies investigate applicants for children to be adopted immediately and limit the stay of adoptable children in foster homes. T0 Support a resolution for a Constitutftonal Amendment,to provide that members of the Utah House of Representatives be eleeted to a term of four years. following policy s ba tements are recommended: 1. To elevate the standards for the employed woman through legislation of business and the professions, vocations, science, in the fields education and labor; and to encourage women to seek policy making posts at all levels 2. of government. To support legislation for the protection, improvement and constructive development of inants, minor children, juveniles, young adults and women. |
