In conclusion I have specially to thank Mr. O. Salvin for the extremely kind way in which he has placed at m y disposal a large collection of Mesomyodian birds in spirit. From this I have been able to make out the peculiarity in the distribution of the vessels in the leg ; and from it also I hope to obtain materials for another paper shortly, in which the syrinx of some of the yet little-known forms will be described.
