Later the dairy was supplied with milk from South Weber farmers: Vern Poll, Dale Poll, Marlow Poll, Joseph Staples, Sam Moore, Sanford and David Cook, John and Elmer Bambrough, Clarence and Harold Earl, and John Combe. 192 After the Combe's and the Poulsen's parted company the Combe's moved to Stevensville, Montana, where they purchased a 350 acre farm and continued in the milk business. However, when a fire burned them out, they moved back to South Weber after having spent four years in Montana. The Combes returned to South Weber in 1957 at which time they started their dairy business allover again. That time they started with a small herd of four cows. At the present moment they have over 100 cows. In 1931 in Preston, Idaho, John Combe married Myrtle Jensen of Brigham City, Utah. They had five children: Byron Combe of Roy, Utah; Carol Wright of Wilson Lane, Utah; Joan Rogers; John Gary Combe, who became a Mayor of South Weber, Utah; Gail Higgens of Montana; and Colleen Petersen of Roy. Figure 252. John and Mynk Combe of Sourh Weber. Johnny's Dairy. John Gary Combe is the last of the dairy breed left in South Weber. His dairy pasteurizes and homogenizes its own milk. H,is family bottles and sells the milk in their own store and fifteen other outlets in the local area. Johnny sells approximately 500 gallons of milk a week to Ray's Valley Service alone. Any excess is taken to the Cache Valley Cheese Company in Smithfield, Utah, for processing. John Combe and Weston Poulsen teamed up to make a start in the dairy business which later came to be known as Johnny's Dairy. They started their enterpriz.e in Uintah and then moved to Morgan, where they milked the cows and homogenized or pasteurized the milk and made deliveries. Figure 253. Mayor John Gary Combe. Davis County Dairy Days: Some people can find the fun in anything. When the mayors of the various cities of Davis County had their annual cow milking contest at Davis High School to celebrate June Dairy Day, the Mayor of South Weber (Joseph Ray) won hands down. Mayor Ray placed first among the mayors with a total of 13 pounds of milk. Second, third, and fourth places went to the mayors of Layton, Sunset, and Bountiful.
