Show INTRODUCTION In the November 2005, the Bureau of Reclamation (BOR), Salt Lake City, requested that Sagebrush Consultants, L.L.C. (Sagebrush) conduct data recovery of the historic property at 7400 South Cornia Drive, located in the Weber Basin Job Corps Center in Davis County, Utah. Because the building did not meet earthquake safety standards, it was determined that the building should be demolished. The BOR, in consultation with the Utah State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO), had determined that this property is eligible for inclusion in the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP), and therefore the demolition of this property would have an adverse effect on a historic property. Pursuant to 36 CFR Part 800, regulations implementing Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act (16 U.S.C. 470) a MOA was completed and signed by the BOR and the Utah SHPO. This MOA stated that the following mitigation measures would be completed prior to demolition of the property: 1. Update the existing history with any new information available. 2. Photographs are required for all historic buildings or structures on the property. 3. Existing floor plans shall be labeled according to historic use of the rooms. A sketch map of the property with buildings labeled shall also be submitted. 4. Ifavailable, a legible photocopy of the entire historic tax card of the property and a 5x7 inch black and white, 3S-mm print, and negative of the historic tax photo shall be submitted. Label and submit print and negative as described above. Photocopies of all other research notes must also be submitted. S. All materials shall be submitted to the Division of State History, Historic Preservation Office, to be placed on file. The Harbertson House is located in T. SN., R. 1W., Section 36 on the USGS 7.S' Quadrangle Ogden, Utah (1992)(Figure 1). The property is currently a part of the Weber Basin Job Corps Center and is administered by the Bureau of Reclamation (BOR). Fieldwork for the project was carried out in March 2006, by Michael R. Polk, Donald Southworth and Wendy Simmons Johnson, all of Sagebrush. 1 |
