Show In 1955, the Department of Air Force took control of the land, including the Military Springs as part of the new Hill Air Force Base. In 1957 the Department of Air Force granted permits to the Bureau of Reclamation to construct a tunnel and other structures in connection with the Weber Basin Reclamation Project. In 1965, all remaining land not included in the previous permits was outgranted to the Bureau of Reclamation for use in developing a Job Corps Camp. The Weber Basin Job Corps Center was established with all supervisory personnel maintenance provided by the Bureau of Reclamation. 14 In 1970, the land was acquired by the Bureau of Reclamation in a transfer of excess real property from the Department of Air Force. ls Since the inception of the Job Corps Center, the home has been used as a residence for directors and employees of the center. Presently it serves as the main administrative offices for the center. Stylistically speaking, the Harbertson Home is significant as a unique local example of the Folk Victorian house form. According to A Field Guide to American Houses, the Folk Victorian style is "defined by the presence of Victorian decorative detailing on simple folk house forms, which are generally much less elaborate than the Victorian styles that they attempt to mimic. ,,16 In consideration of the side-gabled, one story subtype, this is a perfect description for the Harbertson Home. The original hall-and-parlor, National Folk home was updated and stylized with the appendage of a centered gable and a large porch.
