Show 53 -- 50-- " Q What other means of reaching those points on the river, then, are available? " The Special Master; What points? " By Mr. Farnsworth: " Q These inaccessible points, which you referred to, inaccessible to automobiles, on horseback, or to foot pas-sengers. You would reach then by boat, would you not? " A We did not. " Q Well, I say that is the way the traveller would most easily reach them, is it not? " A No, I would not agree with that, because the people in the country are not using boats. The people that own ranches there that are running in cattle. " Q They are not anywhere down on the river, or near the river, are they? " A They are any place where there is any grazing; any place where they can run their cattle." R. 123- 124. It would have been a very arduous task to get to the various points he and the others wanted to go to get there by automobile. Whether it would be much easier or simpler to go by water depends upon where you are going. " Q The reason you went by boat on those two trips which you have spoken of to the oil wells was because that was the easiest, the simplest and most practicable route; is that not true? " A We went that way because we could then see the things along the river; you could get to various points on horseback, but to follow things successively right on down the river, you can not do by traveling by horseback. |
