Show 5 - 3- Frederick 3. Dellenbaugh is the outstanding authority on the history of the river and its exploration. He carried the " Romance of the Colorado River" and the " Canyon Voyage" with him. He identifies Complainant's Exhibit No. 13, " Romance of the Colorado River", as one of the books he carried with him on the trip. The photographs in this book of the portions of the river which he travelled are correct reproductions of what he saw on the river. Complainant's Exhibit No. 13 is offered in evidence. He was able to identify many of the locations whereat the pictures were taken, and that the pictures are representative in a general way of the places that he saw. Many of the pictures are down in the Grand Canyon of the Colorado, R. 31- 34. ( Objection to Exhibit No. 13 R. 35. Received in evidence R. 36.) Complainant's Exhibit No. 14, a book entitled " A Canyon Voyage", a narrative of the second Powell Expedition down the Green and Colorado Rivers, and the exploration on land in 1871 and 1872, by Frederick S. Dellenbaugh, the artist and assistant topographer of the Expedition, was offered and received in evidence. R. 38. Since making his trip on the river, he has continued his study of it, and there are not many more books remaining to be read by him, having kept in touch with such things as have happened in the meantime.
