Show 77 -- 73-- the San Rafael - if, after our examination we concluded that we could use that boat, the boat was to be launched at Greenriver and taken down then with our supplies. But after our examination, we concluded that we could not successfully get that large boat, drawing 2 1/ 2 feet of water, to the mouth of the San Rafael. So we went overland back to Greenriver -" R. 177. Did not have the large motor boat brought to Greenriver by water via the Colorado and the Green Rivers because it was not believed they could get the boat up the Green River at that stage of water. " We had planned previously to have an automobile meat us at the mouth of the San Rafael on a Sunday. We waited that Sunday until about 4 o'clock in the afternoon, and no one showed up. So, in order to get back to Greenriver, to meet the company coming over with the boat, we decided to walk, as the only way to get back was by foot; and we walked overland approximately 24 or 25 miles, in an exceedingly rough country, until we struck the highway on the Green River, above [ Sic. about] 4 or 5 miles outside of Green River."[ Sic.
