I made the statement that there were 4,900 second- feet between October 18 and October 23. Apparently, that is a typographical error, and it should be 3,900 second- feet. However, the official records will speak for themselves. I think that is a typographical error, and it should be 3,900 instead of 4,900 second- feet - on page 12, of complainant's Exhibit 75." R. 234- 235. This correction was made by the witness, after examining official records. R. 235. Complainant's Exhibit No. 80, " being a copy of a report prepared by W. G. Hoyt, entitled, " Rapids, Rapid water and Quiet Water' on the rivers in question," is offered in evidence, and received conditionally. R. 235- 240. The government plan and profile maps show the number of rapids, each rapids being numbered, and their location. They were numbered by the party who made the survey, " The original topographic field sheets show a number in pencil, a number given by the topographer. Now, that number has been carried though by various writers. For instance, Freeman in his book uses those same numbers and calls them official numbers. Now, they are official to the extent that the topographer when he was making his map gave them that number. The number is not shown on the printed report of the Survey, because they showing [ Sic. showing] nothing but the plan, profile and contours. The location is shown on those ways by |
