Show 46 -- 43-- A on the second trip the boat was operated by Virgil Baldwin, of Moab, who has operated Moab Garage Company boats on the river, and is able to pick channel; but even with his experience he could not pick it constantly, and he had to watch it carefully each time." R. 110- 111. He were a bathing suit on this trip. He has seen the boat called the Sic " Moab Garage". He has never seen it stuck on a sandbar himself, but he has heard of it being stuck several times. R. 111. He has not seen it running its paddle at night to keep its channel. Complainant's Exhibit No. 55, a report by the witness, was received in evidence. The pictures therein were taken during the course of the three years he was in that country, or they were just selected from other peoples' groups of pictures on file in the Interior Department. R. 112. Cross Examination. R. Vol. 1, pp. 113- 121. He did not wear a bathing suit on the second trip, nor did anyone else on the boat wear one. " Virgil Baldwin [ he was operating the boat] might just as well have been in a bathing suit; he had his trousers swept overboard." R. 113. There were five people in the boat. He cannot tell how much time he spent at Moab which was the headquarters of the party the first two years, and they were in and out of there various times all during the summer. The Moab Garage was operating boats up and down the river all during the period they were drilling the wells. He cannot state exactly the length of time. R. 113.
