Show 24 27 " Q. Did you learn from him how he got his supplies down there? " A. He brought them an on horseback, as there is no road down to the river at that point, according to Mr. Carpenter. R. 74. It took the Expedition about sixteen days to make the trip from Greenriver, Utah, down to Lees Ferry. R. 74. " Q. This town of Hite, Utah indicated on the map -- is there any town there now? " A. There is not. We found an old building still standing that appeared to have been the post office. But we saw no one, and none of the little shacks around there was inhabited at that time. " Q. Is there a town at Lees Ferry? " A. There is no town at Lees Ferry. At the time I went through there the ferry man and his family were living in one house, and he had two brothers who lived in houses nearby, but there was no town and no store, or anything of that kind, not even a post office. " Q. And no boats? " A. Oh, yes; there is the ferryboat, and also two or three small boats that they use to run across the river with, instead of taking the big ferry when the wanted to go over to the other shore."
