Show 243 6430 4421 Woods- D that is in the county, in San Juan county. Q Do you of any larger veins, as large as six feet or more? A Yes sir. Q Where are those located? A Well, I know of a vein of coal west of Monticello that we opened up there; it was six feet thick; and I know of coal in what we call Squaw creek, the southwestern part of the county, that faces up about ten feet; then there is other smaller veins of coals two or three feet; they are working a small vein of coal east of Monticello; I think about four feet f coal there. Q So far as you know, has any careful or extensive work been done looking towards the location or those coal veins at other points in the county to see and determine where they may outcrop, further west or further south? MR. BLACKMAR: Object to that as being entirely immaterial. THE SPECIAL MASTER: How could he know? MR. FARNSWORTH: I am asking him that very ques-tion, if he does know. I think living in the county he would probably know of it if it had been done. |
