Q As you proceed westward is there also a general dropping of the country? A Yes, the general slope to the Haton wash. Q Is the section that you speak of sufficiently high, or does it have sufficient precipitation to permit of dry farming, or not? A Well, not successfully. Q Your best judgment is that off to the west there, towards the Colorado river, the land is not high enough, and there is not enough annual precipitation to permit of suc-cessful dry farming? A Yes sir. Q What character of land is it, so far as grazing land is concerned? A Well, it is very good grazing land; it is a very good winter range. Q If water could be placed upon it, is the soil of such a character that it would be tillable and grow good crops? |
