Show Dellenbaugh- RD MR. BLACKMAR: Offer in evidence Exhibit 629, being the diary of Captain F. M. Bishop. BY MR. BLACKMAR: Q Who was Bishop? A Captain Bishop was one of the topographers in the first year of the second Powell expedition down as far as Lees Ferry. Q Where is the original of that diary? A That is now in the hands of the New York Public Library, but it doesn't belong there; it belongs to Captain Bishop, who lives in Salt Lake City. BY MR. FARNSWORTH: Q When did it get down there? A I took it, when I was here before. This is only the second half; they already have the first half of his diary; when I was here before, I discovered he had some more of it. Q That is a month ago? A About a month ago, so I took it east with me to have it reproduced. MR. FARNSWORTH: I assume we will have an oppor-tunity to look over these things and make such objections as we think proper after we have looked them over. Of course, that will be, probably, after we have put in our case. MR. BLACKMAR: All right. I will furnish you with copies. |
