A Oh, I don't exactly remember; I have crossed in the spring of the year, along in May, practically every month of the year, I think. BY MR. FARNSWORTH: Q Have you crossed there at Sand Island frequently? A Yes sir. Q I believe you told me about some occurrence in 1928 there, the summer of 1928, when you tried to take a car across? A Yes sir. Q I wish you would just state that; it thrown some light on the matter. A I was over buying Navajo cattle, and we came to a point just south of the Bluff with the cattle; I had my car along; in my opinion the river was as low in 1928 as I remember ever seeing it with the exception of the dry year; and I thought, " Well, if I could cross the river by going direct across,"-- it would take me probably fifty miles or longer to go around by the bridge.
