Mark the location on a topo map and give the coordinates (if it still exists). See Drawing No. 500-T-0038 Latitude Longitude Elevation 40° 42° 55" 112 ° 08' 36" 4420-4560' What is the current land use? Reclaimed land What processes are/were involved, materials handled & produced? Crushing, grinding, flotation, thickening/filtering of concentrate. Mineral processing of Copper Ore by crushing, grinding, flotation, thickening and filtering to produce copper concentrate. The following chemicals were either tested or used in the milling/concentrating process at Arthur: coal tar creosote, petroleum, petroleum residue, petroleum stove oil, pine oil, reco pine oil, reco turpentine, calura (lime, sulfur, and sodiwn hydroxide), rosin, lime, soap solutions, sodiwn sulphide, sodium hydroxide, light oil, coal tar, phenols, sulphuric acid, alpha napthlamine, xylidine, thiocarbanilid, orthotohidiney, potassiwn ethylzanthate, recocrysylic acid and reco alcohol. Cyanide was tested for a short period in 1927. • Were wastes generated or stored? What are the possible contaminant pathways? After the copper, gold, silver and other metals were liberated from the host rock, the crushed and ground host rock was deposited in the Magna Tailings Impoundment as tailings . What are the characteristics of wastes including samples? Describe QA/QC performed. State if detailed lab reports are available and attach summaries of lab reports. Page 3-149 of the Tailings Impoundment Modernization EIS summarizes metals concentrations in tailings and underlying soils (attached). If demolished, where was debris disposed? Scrap steel was recycled by Atlas Steel, RACM was removed by a certified contractor (Racmont Industrial), Beneficiation wastes were used as fill on site, non-beneficiation wastes were characterized and disposed of in accordance with RCRA regulations, and clean construction debris was disposed of in the Tailings Impoundment Landfill. Provide post removal sampling data if available. Data for both total metals and leachable metals should be reported if available. Ground water data from this area were evaluated by UDEQ (John Whitehead, DWQ) as part of the North Concentrator groundwater discharge permit application and it was determined that the site should not be included in the North End Ground Water RI. Any sites within the Arthur area that exhibit suspicious characteristics (i.e. discoloration) have been or will be evaluated as part of the NFS/WWTP AOC.
