Show •· BONNEVILLE NORTH SLOP:J: SITE (Bl0) CHARACTERIZATION SAMPLING REPORT INTRODUCTION In April and May 1995, five soil samples were collected from the Bonneville North Slope Site. The North Slope Site consists of two areas located north and southeast of the Bonneville Crushing and Grinding Facility. The samples were collected as part of the Site Characterization, and were analyzed at Datachem Laboratory for total arsenic, cadmium, lead, and selenium concentrations. One of the samples was split as part of quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) procedures. None of the samples contained elevated concentrations of any of the analytes. LOCATION AND DESCRIPTION • The Bonneville North Slope Site consists of two separate areas located near the Bonneville Crushing and Grinding Facility (Dwg. No. 507-T-0149). One area is located 250 feet southeast of the Bonneville Administration Building and immediately northeast of the Bonneville Shops. The site covers an area of approximately 2 acres (300 feet x 300 feet) and may have received fill soil from an unknown source to form a level area. At the present time the site is being used as a laydown yard. The other area consists of three separate piles of ore mixed with soil and debris that have been placed as fill to form level pads for several facilities. The piles will be referred to as piles A through C for the purpose of this report. The following paragraphs describe each of the pile locations and physical characteristics. Pile A: Pile A is located 200 feet northeast of the Bonneville Crushing and Grinding Facility and serves as a level pad for the waste oil disposal bays. The pile consists of medium brown, silty sand and contains approximately 20% debris, including metal, wood and cement. The pile is approximately 25 feet high, 50 feet wide, and 200 feet long. Pile B: Pile Bis located 400 feet northeast of the Bonneville Crushing and Grinding Facility. The pile is the fill material for the Main Bonneville Substation and contains yellow and green, copper and iron oxidized, sand-sized ore. The pile is approximately 15 feet high, 120 wide, and 200 feet long. Pile C: Pile C is located 250 feet southeast of the Bonneville Crushing and Grinding Facility. The pile is the fill material for a laydown yard built to the north of the entrance road to the Grinding Facility. The pile consists of debris contaminated ore including metal, wood, and cement. The pile is approximately 20 feet high, I 00 feet wide, and 200 feet long . • b I Ocrpt.wpd* July 11, 1996 Rev. 0 |
